What's next? Now, Global Players Program

July 27, 2022, Madrid

Global Players Program is born, a project dedicated to the training of players beyond soccer.

What now? Can an active player study while training? How does a soccer player occupy his time?

LaLiga, through its educational department LaLiga Business School, launched the "Global Players Program", a project dedicated to the training of players beyond soccer. An exclusive program for active LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank players, whose objective is to provide soccer players with the necessary tools to develop their professional careers in the Sports and Entertainment Industry.

The program brought together 30 soccer players, the first students of a pioneering project. "A soccer player when he finishes his career what he wants is to be linked to soccer. We want the players to be aware of everything that surrounds their profession and the amount of opportunities they have so that they see that within this industry there are other areas of work that go beyond sports," added Luis Gil, director of Competitions and Player's Office.

In today's soccer there is a huge structure that is fundamental for the development of teams, necessary figures such as managers, analysts, marketing experts....

The course ended last June, during 5 months the athletes attended streaming sessions on different topics such as big data, digital transformation, sports marketing, brand management, etc. A program 100% adapted so that they could follow it without worries or problems.

For the project, LaLiga Business School had the help of Oxygen (digital academic platform founded by Jorge Valdano), as a technology partner. In addition to Banco Santander, the AFE (Spanish Footballers Association) and the application "Players", an app exclusively for soccer players.
