LALIGA concludes the 3rd edition of the ATP & LALIGA Business Programme

May 01, 2025, Madrid

Held during the Mutua Madrid Open, the course brought together top tennis players like Paula Badosa to explore key aspects of the sports industry.

LALIGA, through its educational department LALIGA BUSINESS SCHOOL, hosted at its headquarters the final session of the 3rd edition of the ‘ATP & LALIGA Business Education Programme’, the training course developed in partnership with the ATP that aims to bring professional tennis players closer to the workings and management dynamics of the sports industry.

With a total duration of 23 hours spread across March and April, the program combined in-person sessions in Miami and Madrid with streaming sessions, allowing for flexible training adapted to the competitive calendar of the ATP tour. A feature that reaffirms both organizations’ commitment to continuous, high-quality education while always respecting the athletes’ professional context.

During the session held at LALIGA’s headquarters, participants delved into topics related to the new era of sports marketing, guided by leading organizations such as Nike, Formula 1, SPSG Consulting, and LALIGA. This phase marked the closing of an itinerary that began in March in Miami, where topics such as leadership in the sports industry and event management were addressed, and continued with an online phase focused on the application of artificial intelligence, sustainability, and digital strategy in sports.

The program, which connects key disciplines through expert speakers and high-value practical cases, included the participation of tennis players such as Paula Badosa, Zizou Bergs, Rohan Bopanna, Radu Albot, Henry Patten, Evan King, Ulrikke Eikeri, Timea Babos, Jaume Munar, James Duckworth, Tristan Boyer, Constantin Frantzen, Magda Linette, Carlos Taberner, Mikhail Kukushkin, Marco Trungelliti, Sem Verbeek, Nadiia Kichenok, Joe Salisbury, Brandon Nakashima, Hendrik Jebens, Andre Goransson, who shared concerns and interests with the goal of exploring future career opportunities in sports from a global and innovative perspective.

The ATP values the importance of this type of initiative. For Fernando Sánchez, Senior VP of Player Relations:
"The ATP, in general, and the Player Department in particular, have a very clear strategy for our player members: improving their experience on Tour both on and off the court while they are still competing, and increasing the opportunities we offer to ensure they are as prepared as possible for professional life when they decide to retire. This program, along with others such as the ATP Player Mentoring Programme—which we will launch its second edition in June—fulfill and align perfectly with this strategy."

For José Moya, Director of LALIGA BUSINESS SCHOOL:
"It is a privilege to continue driving this initiative alongside a strategic partner like the ATP. Programs like this allow athletes to access essential knowledge about the industry in which they develop their careers and represent one more step in our commitment to their education and professional development, beyond the court. The success of this third edition strengthens our will to keep building bridges between sport and education through an international and multidisciplinary vision."

The ATP & LALIGA Business Education Programme thus consolidates itself as a pioneering initiative, designed to introduce athletes to the management of an increasingly demanding and globalized industry, with the support of leading institutions and a clear focus on talent development both on and off the field.
