Professional Club Management

Fran Canal, General Manager of Club Atlético Osasuna since 2019. His professional experience in the world of Football goes back more than a decade, he served as advisor and advisor to Cadiz CF. Consolidated as one of the main architects of the reorganization of Club Atlético Osasuna, capable of not only bordering bankruptcy in 2014 but also of leading the club to become one of the most important patrimonial projects in Spanish soccer today.

Undoubtedly a golden opportunity for the students of the Máster en Derecho aplicado al Fútbol Profesional to learn firsthand about the real management behind a century-old club like Club Atlético Osasuna. A monographic session, focused on the history, structure and functioning of the club.

After a first introductory presentation, where the past, present and future of the clubs, their history, operation and characteristics were developed, the students were able to learn more in depth about topics more oriented to management. Among them, the analysis of institutions and governance of a club, the organizational structures of the club, how to approach a good strategic planning. The second half of the session dealt with the different KPIs to be taken into account and the differences in the management of a Club and a Sociedad Anónima Deportiva (SAD).

The Máster en Derecho aplicado al Fútbol Profesional is structured in such a way that the practical teaching is on a par with the theoretical teaching, with real cases told by professionals with extensive experience in the sector and current protagonists in the development of the Sports Industry.
